Emmerich Knoll
Those who know Austrian wines often mention Emmerich Knoll in the same breath as other great winemakers, such as Hirtzberger and FX Pichler. This is not only thanks to the striking classic label depicting St. Urban, the patron saint of winegrowers.
Knoll has fantastic vineyards in the Wachau such as Schütt, Loibenberg and Kellerberg. More than 90% of these are planted with Riesling and Grüner Veltliner, which have found an ideal home there. Tradition and modern refinement go hand in hand: the emerald wines are vinified in stainless steel tanks, after which they are further raised in large, old wooden casks. The Vinothekfüllung is a special selection of the best grapes from the Schütt and Loibenberg vineyards.
Emmerich Knoll itself does not like exuberant, flashy wines. Tight, concentrated wines that show their strength - that is the credo of this estate. They are unique in their expression and slowly unfold in the glass to release an extraordinary complexity. The wines have exceptional conservation potential and show their unique personality only after a few years or even decades in the cellar.
