Hidden Treasure: 4 Kilos
We would like to draw your attention to the winery 4 Kilos, a unique project founded by Francesc Grimalt and Sergio Caballero. These winemakers come from the renowned winery Ànima Negra in Mallorca. It is undoubtedly a wine house to keep an eye on. Luis Gutierrez from The Wine Advocate is already convinced and calls them "the leading quality producer on the island."
4 Kilos manages approximately 15 hectares of vineyards in Mallorca. Here, the vines grow in the characteristic "call vermell" soil, a red clay soil rich in iron, with limestone and small to medium-sized rocks. This unique substrate, combined with the distinctive and generally very dry climate, gives the wines a pronounced and characterful profile.
Bottles from 4 Kilos are rare in the market, and magnums are true collector's items. Recent reviews are promising: both the 2020 and 2021 vintages received an impressive 97 points, while the 2018 was awarded an impressive 96+.
