WHAT TO EXPECT

SHIPPING WINE

If you live further than half an hour's drive from Antwerp, we will give you a quote for the delivery of your wine.  

We charge you the amount that our carriers charge us.

As a default, we deliver under all-risk insured conditions.

The prices in the table are indicative: the transport prices apply per year subject to deviations from carriers in fuel prices, pandemic surcharges and price changes from shippers. Surcharges may apply for remote areas.

As soon as we have received your payment, we will send you a confirmation of receipt, pack your wines and send you track & trace data.

We work with DHL or FEDEX/TNT and will inform you if another carrier is needed.

TRANSIT TIME

The indicative delivery time for sending packages is
 

  • 1 - 2 working days and
  • for a pallet 5 - 10 working days.

DELIVERY DOOR-2-DOOR

A door-to-door delivery via a carrier means a delivery to your doorstep. The following exceptions apply:

• Deliveries are made to apartments up to the entrance door of the apartment building;
• In a building with stairs in front of the front door, your carrier will deliver to the bottom of the stairs;
• In a building with a driveway, the carrier delivers up to where the car or a pallet truck can drive: a pallet truck can only drive over a smooth floor surface.

We ask that you provide us with an address suitable for the delivery of your purchases. If a carrier cannot deliver to the address you provided, the shipment will be returned or reshipped on your costs.

SAFE SHIPPING

We ship parcels in multi-layer carton or in Styrofoam.

We ship larger quantities on a pallet or in a pallet box. Our Europallets and pallet boxes comply with the ISPM standard.

SHIPMENT OF WOODEN CASES

We will send you the case and wine separately, unless the bottles have no room to move in the case.

If you wish to receive the unopened case, you can collect the wine (personally) or save the wine here to have it shipped later on a pallet.

6 MONTHS FREE STORAGE

The storage is air-conditioned and insured against all risks.

The storage space is only intended for wine purchased from Sylvie's.

The wine in storage can be called off in its entirety and in one go.

We do not split wine from one lot into multiple shipments.

After 6 months, storage costs are due per full or half pallet location.
 

OPTIMAL SHIPPING 

The storage enables you to optimize the size of your shipment.

After 6 months the storage costs are:

• €30.00 per month for half a pallet space
• €60.00 per month for a pallet space

The size of a pallet is 1.20 * 0.80 meters. A pallet place has a maximum height of 1.60 metres.

COLLECTING WINE

SEND A CARRIER OF YOUR CHOICE

You can have your wine collected by a professional carrier of your choice if you are a wine professional with an import license.

Ask us - for shipment to destinations outside Belgium or the EU - about the conditions before signing a contract.

PERSONAL PICK UP OF WINE  

Personal collection of wine is always subject to Belgian VAT, unless you can demonstrate - in accordance with the guidelines in the EU - that the wine is leaving Belgium.

You can collect your wine from the first Thursday after an auction once you have received your invoice or proof of purchase. On the first Saturday after an auction, we are additionally open for collection of wine.

Your wine is insured for transport damage as a result of theft, breakage and loss.

An all-risk insurance covers the damage up to the amount stated on the invoice and never covers consequential loss, such as damage caused by leakage or a loose cork in the bottle. Cork taint or any other fault in a wine is also excluded from any cover.

When you omit the all-risk insurance, the CMR insurance of the carrier always applies, which offers a (low) kilo price in case of damage. If you do not want to use all-risk insurance, we ask you to confirm this in writing.

STORAGE IN BAD WEATHER CONDITIONS

SUMMER AND WINTER SHIPPING

We normally ship your wine immediately after receiving your payment. If expected temperatures on the way to the final destination are below 0 degrees or above 25 degrees Celsius, we advise against shipping to avoid the risk of harming the wine. At low temperatures, the wine remains fine, but there is a greater risk of breakage due to frost. We offer free storage until the temperature is wine-friendly again. This storage is in addition to the free storage of 6 months, provided that the bad weather conditions do not last longer than 45 days. After that we charge a storage fee.

It is still possible to receive the wine at any time if you request this in writing and accept all possible consequential losses.

REPORTING DAMAGE

Our selection of packaging and carriers minimizes the risk of any damage during shipment. If any damage to your wine has occurred, in spite of our endeavours to ensure safety, we will compensate you in accordance with your chosen insurance as soon as possible.  

In order to be able to invoke insurance, we ask you to provide us with photos of the damage immediately, unless the nature of the damage is such that this is impossible (loss or theft). Photographs are to be sent to us within 3 days upon arrival, as insurance policy obliges. In the event of damage to the outside of the packaging that raises suspicion that any content may be damaged, we strongly advise you to refuse delivery.
