Given the eye-watering price of this magnum-only release, I was determined to hold the wine to the highest possible standards, but it surpasses even the prodigious 1996 and surely ranks as the finest Salon since at least the 1970s. Jaargang 2008 wordt beschouwd als één van de beste ooit in de Champagne. Na een koude winter, waardoor de wijnstokken goed kunnen rusten, kondigt de lente zich fris aan maar met veel zonneschijn. De zomer is ook fris met in juli veel zon gevolgd door een grijze augustus, wat de druiven de kans geeft om traag te rijpen. Hierdoor hebben de druiven bij de oogst een mooie balans tussen zuren, suikers en aroma’s.
