Vosne-Romanée ‘les Gaudichots’
Domaine Forey has a long history in the Côte-de-Nuits. It was founded in 1840 by the great-grandfather of the current winemaker Régis Forey.
The domain is right next to Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and has some exceptional parcels of Pinot Noir in the grand cru vineyard Echezeaux, but also in the premier crus 'les Petits Monts' and 'les Gaudichots' - both located in Vosne-Romanée.
The latter is also called the 'little brother' of the famous 'la Tâche' grand cru, because of the intertwined history of these vineyards: after 1936, part of the yield of 'les Gaudichots' was absorbed by 'la Tâche '. Régis owns about 0.30 hectares of 'les Gaudichots' and produces a masculine style of wines, focused on concentration and depth.
The wines therefore need some time in the cellar to get ready to drink.

You will find some bottles of this very exclusive wine in the lots 1845, 1846 & 1847.“[…] the mouthfeel of the larger-scaled flavors is positively gorgeous thanks to the abundant dry extract that buffers the moderately firm tannins shaping the sophisticated finish. This saliva-inducing effort already possesses excellent depth and persistent and more should develop in due course.” —(92-94)/100, Allen Meadows, Burghound
