Rotem & Mounir Saouma

The couple behind Bourgogne negociant 'Lucien Le Moine', have also been making wines on their own estate near Orange since 2009.

After being able to snap up some run-down vineyards in the lieux-dits Pignan, Pierredon and others, they immediately set about revitalising the soil to make the most of the terroir.

Here, Mounir & Rotem apply their Burgundian expertise to local grapes such as Grenache and Syrah for the reds and Grenache Blanc, Clairette, Roussanne and Bourboulenc for the whites.

After vinification, the wines are kept 'sur lies' for at least 24 months before bottling. This gives the wines unprecedented intensity, without losing focus. On top of that, many wines are only made in very limited editions, such as Arioso Blanc 2013 of which only 330 magnums were made.

“A smoking effort that will stand toe to toe with a top flight white Burgundy, the 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc Magis has tons of matchstick and flinty minerality to go with vibrant white fruits, white flowers, toast and citrus. Deep, rich, medium to full-bodied and concentrated with racy acidity, this blend of 75% Grenache Blanc and the rest Clairette, Bourboulenc, and Roussanne will benefit from short term cellaring and have 15 or more years of longevity.” – 95/100, Jeb Dunnuck, The Wine Advocate

The June auction features eight lots (3158 - 3165), including four rare magnums, in both white and red.
